He had a heart attack that resulted in a triple bypass for him.
My heart went out to his wife, Sara.
I remember so well going through that type of thing twice with my ex, living with the fear of him dying.
Fortunately, the ex was made well with two cardiac stents each time.
Fortunately.
Then I made sure to write the former sailor, using a card I've had for two decades.
"srsly" on the front...
"wtf" right inside!
I'm sure that got both of them to smile!
Then I included a long message to them about my experience with Jeff, and the importance of keeping conversation open and following doctor's orders.
Pretty serious it was.
More love in the mail was the answer!!!
I have lots of cards and lots of stamps, so I made full use of both.
"Happy healing!" with a hummingbird card to Cathy in California!
"Happy retirement anniversary!" to cuz'n Jeff in Missouri!
"Happy start of school!" to C-A-L-M in Hinesville!!!
That last would be Chloe, Alyssa, Leila, and Miyah, of course.
I also sent them word of the upcoming Fall Family Film Fest at NCG Cinema, in the hopes that they will come see one of the movies with their G'Aunt T.
(smile!)
I also sent those four little girls SASP - that's self-addressed stamped postcards - with a request that they respond to my cards to them.
The postcards were all from a trip to Detroit, though I'm not sure of the year.
(I think they may have been from 1991, but who knows?)
Here's hoping some of that love in the mail will gladden someone's heart...
and that some my find its way back to me!
(smile!)
