eoy and foy a*lists

End of 2025 movies

I should have posted this trio last week, but the cornbread distracted me.
Actually, that's not quite true.
I'd thought that trio might become a quartet, but it did not.
Yes, trio seems to be as far as I can stretch my AMC A*List, even though I'm now allowed to view four movies weekly.
The Jack Black-Paul Rudd comedy, "Anaconda", was much funnier than expected and had lots of explosions!
Honestly, I felt like I was watching something that Jim Reed would have shown at the Psychotronic Film series at the Sentient Bean.
He screened several films with the same premise: big fans of the originals want to recreate the magic with themselves as the stars.
Maybe I can get some of the other regulars to go with me next time!
As for "Marty Supreme", I was expecting a true sports movie, like the ones I enjoyed with my stepmom Bonnie.
Nope!
It was only loosely based on the life of Martin Reisman, who I can only hope was not the conman in bad makeup that Timothy Chalomet portrayed.
Then there's "The Spongebob Movie: Search For Squarepants", this time with the lead elated as he is now tall enough for the 'big kids' rides.
My only rationale for seeing it was for the sake of completeness, as I've seen all the others, as well as some of the TV shows.
Plus, with Mark Hamill voicing the Flying Dutchman, I had to go!

First of 2026 movies

I apologize, but I'm going to repeat myself here, somewhat.
My only rationale for seeing one of these three was for the sake of completeness, as I've seen all the others.
However, as I told Tom, the manager, afterward, I'm done, I don't care how many more they make in that franchise.
That would be "Avatar: Fire And Ash", clocking in at 3 hours, 17 minutes.
The entire first hour could have been dropped with no effect on the story.
"David" was almost an animated musical, which was a nice bonus for me.
Sure, I knew the story from the Bible, of the boy that slew the giant.
Somehow, I'd not known about the King of the Philistines, Achish, but I'll not forget him again; kudos to Asim Chaudhry for adding a comedic touch to that Nero-esque ruler!
My last movie was "Song Sung Blue", one I've looked forward to ever since I first saw the previews months ago.
Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson, singing Neil Diamond classics?
Yes, please!!!
But I left the cinema in tears because the true story had been altered to a different time line.
According to this movie, the couple were only together two years - between his 20th 'sober birthday' and his 22nd 'sober birthday' - before death separated them.
How heartbreaking!!!
How untrue, too.
I'd like to see the 2008 documentary on which this was based, as it was true to the two decades that Mike and Claire Sardina lovingly shared as Lightning and Thunder.
I'll have to try to find that.
