I know that to be true.
That said, it's the chimney sweep who is the real star, holding the story together as he travels down the streets and across the roofs. There's 'Bert', coming over to chat with me, having heard his name as I talked with Danielle, who was part of the costume crew for this huge cast.
He's Rayshawn Roberts, and I've enjoyed his work ever since "Backpack of Power", in which he played the dad.
(I told him since "Corduroy" when he was the store cop, but that came later.)
I'm glad I had the chance to talk with him this time!I couldn't get close enough to 'Mary Poppins' - played by Camryn Cothran - to speak to her.
So many children wanted their photo taken with her!
I'm betting they were all babies the last time the Savannah Children's Theatre performed this one.
After all, that was in 2017.
Danielle Houston had been 'Miss Lark', the dog owner, that time around.
I'm glad she mentioned that, as I really didn't recall who that minor character was.Like I said, this had a huge cast!
There were twenty chimney sweeps, including 'Bert'!
My guess is that it was every bit as large as that of the first production here at the Starcastle.
Is that because so many people missed being part of SavChTh or because the musicals themselves require that many? The answer is likely due to a bit of both reasons, as well as for the financial well-being of the troupe.
Here's hoping that continues!
I want to be coming to their performances for years to come.
I had a second-row seat tonight, right on the end, so the cast could see me.
And guess what?
I even have a printed program and have been promised that they will make sure I have one in the future, if I let them know when I'll be there.
(smile!)

My program was in black and white, not color, but I told them all I needed was the cast list.
Their sponsors prefer the full-color, book-style program.
That can be found online, at flipping book.
