right foot, left foot

It's 0555 in the morning and here I stand.

I'm in one of the pre-surgery prep rooms here at Memorial Hospital.

Allie left me here to put on the compression socks and slipper socks myself.

Of course, that means the left foot is clad and the right one... well, I've already let her know that I cannot contort to do that one, so she'll have to for me.

I don't think she really understands the ramifications of someone having an inguinal hernia.

At least I won't have it much longer.

I meant to post this earlier, but I forgot.
The Optum VA Community Care Network sent the Explanation of Benefits for the inguinal hernia surgery repair.
Memorial University Hospital bill totaled $66,775.00.
Mind you, I didn't stay overnight.
That was all day surgery, wit the bulk of the cost being for the operating room ($38,416.00).
Wow.
Savannah Multispecialty Associates billed $1552.00 for the surgical repair laparoscopy.
I would have expected that to be more, but still: Wow.
Then, Memorial Health Meadows Physicians sent a bill for $4503.00, for anesthesia, twice.
Wow.
All were paid by the VA, with not a penny due from me.
i thank You, God, for decisions made 50 years ago by Mama and me.
