no passport required?

This morning, I checked with my atrial fibrillation supplies and found they've done a good deal more travel than I have.
I had not noticed before where the Eliquis hailed from, but with my latest prescription renewal I was quite surprised.
The current batch came to me, via the Department of Veterans Affairs, from Ireland.
Imagine that!
However, the new blood thinner pills came from even farther: Switzerland!
Seriously, what kind of trade agreements does the United States of America have that would draft such far reaches for medications?
What do those countries purchase from the USA in exchange?
Then I checked out the latest from Boston Scientific.
Along with the electrode connectors for my heart study, they sent two different types of electrode posts... and they're from different countries, too!
The 3M type, sent as three electrode packages, hail from our northern neighbor, Canada, so that makes them fairly local.
However, the other batch, sent as a package of 50 electrodes for my sensitive skin, came all the way from Austria!
I'm just glad I don't have to pay for that airmail.
(smile!)
