the ex: Yeah, Watching it now. I don't know many of the Beatles songs that they're digging out.
me: Yeah, they had a lot. I just got home and found it on.
the ex: Someone did I Don't Want To Spoil The Party. Although it wasn't a big country hit, I have to wonder if they knew the song because of Roseanne Cash's version instead of the Beatles original.
me: Beats me. I came in on 'honey don't'.
the ex: That's an old Carl Perkins rockabilly, that Ringo sang with The Beatles.
me: Very cool! So, he played these new songs when you heard him [last month at The Grand Old Opry, for the 21st birthday of Amy's niece]?
the ex: Everyone who's at the Opry plays three songs. He played Look Up, from the new album; he played Act Naturally, the Buck Owens song he did when he was with The Beatles; then they jammed the stage so everyone could sing With A Little Help From My Friends.
the ex: Many of the other acts played a Beatles tune too.
me: Wow! That sounds like a blast!!
the ex: Even people who weren't on the bill didn't miss the opportunity for that last song. I recognized Ricky Skaggs in that jam session.
me: Wow! Y'all really got lucky with that show!
the ex: We did. When we got the tickets, the talent lineup wasn't firm. I didn't even know that Ringo was putting out a country album. Or any album.
me: He must be high 70's now. Looks good!
the ex: What they're showing is the concert from the Ryman about a month before the Opry appearance. 80's!
the ex: I'm not the only one who didn't realize he had a new album. He joked on stage that he has a new record... "Thank you to the six people that bought it."
the ex: Google says 84 years old.
me: You know, Mama would have been 87 last December.
the ex: You know, I remember a time when we were convinced that Ringo was going to go before all the other Beatles. Car wreck, piles of coke.
the ex: So your mother was a contemporary of the Fab Four.
me: Right? Mind blown.
me: Keith Richards is still alive [81 years old], too. Some folks just get lucky.
the ex: It can't just be luck, can it? He probably has the DNA to keep him going after all the crap he's done.
me: For sure.
the ex: I'm sure luck and happenstance has something to do with it. Nikki Sixx [66 years old] of Motley Crue would be dead if not for that quick thinking EMT with the needle full of adrenaline.
me: This is what I'm having for dinner. I call it 'almost Easter soup'. Every time Mardi Gras and Ash Wednesday come around I start wanting this.
the ex: Is that sausage?
me: Nope. It's turkey pepperoni. I didn't have the sausage, but I had the boiled eggs. I used canned sauerkraut, then regular horseradish, as Food Lion didn't have the beet kind. hen there's that dollop of sour cream to top it off! The taste is all there, but this took only about thirty minutes to whip up.

All in all a perfect finish for a Monday full of movies!
I even did a rare thing and had lunch out: pepperoni pizza at the AMC to split my double header there!
I even carried in my orange umbrella in case of heavy rain, though, fortunately, all I had to deal with all day was a bit of drizzle.
I had been concerned about the weather situation after the second movie, as the third of the day was out at the Savannah JEA, hence the need for the umbrella-ella-ella.
(smile!)
Why was I so determined to see three movies today?
There must have been some ulterior motive, right?
Oh, you betcha!
Just follow the titles...
glorious, ain't it???
(smile!)
Besides the titles forming a sentence, the trio had nothing in common.
The first was a new documentary about an all-girls robotic team from Afghanistan.
The second was new, straight-up, fantasy scifi, with Milla Jovovich and Dave Bautista, from two of my favorite films in that genre.
The third was from last year, with Carol Kane as a sixty-something widow who wanted the Bat Mitzvah denied her as a girl, and featured Jason Schwartzman as the cantor cum former singing student who helps her attain that goal.
All were free to me and all were good movies that I'd gladly see again!
What a wonderful Monday this has been!
