whole latta nothing going on

The crew had been readying the property for the past few days.
The city had already come and made the marks for the water, sewer, and gas lines running to the house.
Then, this morning, the demolition began.
It actually wasn't nearly as loud as I had expected.
It also didn't take as long as I'd thought such a thing would.
It wasn't like the demolition on Las Vegas Boulevard when they took down the Stardust casino one year when I was there.
That was done with the strategic placement of dynamite and was over in less than the blink of an eye.
No, this was a steady, methodical, dismantling of the building that once was a home to a family with one son and three daughters.
The son has the property now, with his wife, and they decided over a year ago that the house was to be demolished down to the ground.
I'll be interested to see what new structure is built there.

Now, though, there's nothing of note but that lovely oak tree.
Matthew had spoken of having it cut down, but I pleaded for it to stay.
I'm glad they decided to leave it be.

Odd how my mental jukebox works sometimes.
The post title is a riff off a song sung by Jerry Lee Lewis, "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On", with a little pun off the family's surname, Latta.
When I saw the image my camera captured, my first thought was "a whole lot of nothing going on", then the jukebox cued up and a pun came out.
(smile!)
