frog or lizard?

"Amphibian or reptile?"

Sure, we could go that route, but I was keeping it simple.

"And just what are we talkin' 'bout?"

The photo on the wall of Examining Room 5 at Doctor Cobb's place.

"Oh, was this the day of your discussion with him about your 30-day heart monitor study? I was wondering when that was coming up."

Actually, that was yesterday afternoon! It went very well, too. He told me the study only found two instances of atrial fibrillation... and I was able to tell him when those were! That surprised him!!! I'd brought my journal and my exercise calendar with me and looked it up. Sure enough, those two instances were both on the night following my installation of the monitor pad in a vertical orientation on top of my sternum. I told him the weight of that pad felt like someone pressing on my chest and made me feel like I was suffocating! That had woken me in a panic twice in the early hours of August 27 and it had taken a while for me to settle back to sleep. That's why I called Boston Scientific the night of the 27th, because the thought of trying to sleep with that vertical mount was not what I wanted. I'm glad I switched over to the electrodes! He was glad that I only had that one limited time of a-fib action. Me, too!

"So, does he think you need to go back on the Sotalol?"

Nope! He still wants me to keep taking the Eliquis, but he doesn't think I need the Sotalol. I think he thinks he cured me the last time he zapped me. I think the a-fib is absent because the weather has been warm. I guess we'll both see in a month or so. The nights are already going into the low 40's, so it's just a matter of time before those are the highs of the day. I already find myself limiting my night-time exposure to cooler air.

"Guess folks won't be wearing skimpy costumes this year. You'll be able to spot the locals from the northern transplants!"

Hahahaha! Yes, I guess so! So, what's your guess about the picture of the critter on the wall at his office?

"I think it may be a lizard. I feel sure I'm seeing little legs, not flippers."

Yeah, I told nurse Robin that's what I decided, too. At first I thought it was a frog, but the more I looked at it, the more I saw lizard characteristics. In particular, there's the eyelids. I don't think I've ever seen a frog with such fancy lids. However, when I was in Panama, I had noticed plenty of lizards skittering about with fancy eyelids. Maybe I'll post the pic on fb and see what folks say... that will be fun!

neighborhood bully, targeting... me

At dinner tonight, Tony alerted me to this post on fb in our Forest Hills Neighborhood Group.
I'm surprised that the administrator of that page allowed this post, frankly.
The bully took a picture of my front yard and posted it, on September 20, along with his attempt to shame me.
Fortunately, several of my neighbors, as well as my brother, stood up for me to his bullying attack.
Here goes.

Friendly neighborhood reminder, when your grass is 2ft tall and growing into the street a foot it is time to cut it,thankful that most neighbors take care of the yard but some just don’t care,so sad

Rene Green
Is this a regular occurrence at this house ? Is it an elderly person ? Or is it just always neglected …. I’m just wondering because one of my neighbors that used to have a beautiful yard had a stroke ….. and nobody knew ….. everyone just noticed the yard but the persons health had changed and they just needed a little help

Walker Price
Rene Green it’s always a mess, the lady pushmows circles in the yard she is just a little ignorant and jealous of the nice yards in the neighborhood, and she does it out of spite I believe I have offered to do it for free and she declined so I call the city on her every couple of weeks and that’s the only way to get her to half a$$ do the yard

Irene Latta Robinson
Rene Green she is an older lady and she has lived in the neighborhood for a very long time. I'm not sure if she is doing anything out of spite or maybe it's just her age that makes things more difficult or she may have medical conditions that this person isn't aware of and is taking it personally. Not everyone is able to handle Savannah's heat well.

Rene Green
Irene Latta Robinson if you read my comments that’s exactly what I said the very first comment I made !

Irene Latta Robinson
Rene Green I did see that. I just think our neighborhood has a lot of people who have been in it for a while. Like I said, my family's been in the neighborhood since 1993? I think I was only 6 when we moved in. So there's a mix of people who've been there a while and there are younger couples and families moving in. I think I met Tina when I was 12. There's no HOA but I do understand there are city ordinances. I want to make a joke and say the frisbee court really changed the neighborhood by it's only a joke!

Walker Price
Rene Green being old is not an excuse to always have a yard that is a mess that’s what landscapers are for

Rene Green
Walker Price being older isn’t an excuse ? Not everyone has family , not everyone can afford a landscaper ….. and older people can be resistant to change and reluctant to ask or accept help ….. older people deserve grace …. So to me being older is an excuse.

Walker Price
Rene Green not when you offer to give help, just trying a different approach besides calling the city again, but I guess that is the only way to get anything done

Tony E Smith
Hey guy, that's my sister's yard. She is over 65 and lives a simple, life on her terms ,Dr. of anilitical chemistry/ was a teaching college professor before her retirement . Leave her ass alone and just know that she has No personal issues with you. Just let her live her way just as I am sure you want. If you kept your Christmas decorations up all year I would not care. I would think it odd but I wouldn't bust your balls about it nor would I ask you to take them down.

Walker Price
Tony E Smith it’s not only an eyesore but also against code for the city of savannah,I have offered to do it for free every now and then and she just says it doesn’t look bad, leaving Christmas lights up all year doesn’t cause drainage issues or violate city ordinances

Thomas Kimberly
Tony E Smith I love the circles she cuts into the grass! Her yard always looks like there are fairies hiding around the corner.

Laura Thibodeaux
Tony E Smith did she buy Julie’s old house?!

Tony E Smith
Laura Thibodeaux no,she's 2 doors down. Next to one with the looped driveway.

Irene Latta Robinson
Tony E Smith I was also about to say it's very evident about whose home this is and she's been in this neighborhood for a very long time. I'm not sure how long the initial poster has lived in the neighborhood. My family has lived in the neighborhood for over 30 years and people have complained about us when we've had medical emergencies and are unable to take care of things. My dad has been hospitalized but I've had to rush around taking care of yard complaints.

Rene Green
Maybe a partial solution since you offered to do her yard for free is to just simply edge her yard for her when you do yours . Her designs in her yard cutting shouldn’t really affect drainage and then you are both happier ! My husband edges the two neighbors across the street and the one next door when he is edging our yard and blows it off and cleans it up just because he really enjoys doing our yard lol and I think he enjoys his edger the most !

Walker Price
Rene Green she wouldn’t even let me do that

Diane Boyer Sullivan
It is an eyesore. Over growth is a haven for snakes, rodents and more bugs like mosquitos and gnats. I just wish she would get it mowed front and back every couple of weeks. I know Tina has had some health issues and didn't understand why she would not take up Walker's offer to do it for free.

Muriel Miller
Maybe some people don't care. But there are lots of other valid reasons someone's lawn may be overgrown. For instance, we used to have a guy do my lawn but he got sick. My dad does it now...but these past 2 months have been horrible. My uncle just passed away and my mom has been in and out of the hospital. I can't cut the grass because of my allergies. So...it's not always that people don't care. Sometimes they just can't tend to it for various reasons. I wish all I had to worry about in life was someone's yard. Smh.

Jamie D. Fee
It was very kind of you to offer, but it is the homeowner’s choice whether to take you up on your offer.
This homeowner takes care of her own yard. Case closed.
Thank you for keeping it civil.

Jamie is one of the administrators.
Her post was "1 week ago", according to fb.

Tonight, I made my response, just to weigh in on the lies from Walker Price.
Here's what I wrote.

"My thanks to all who had nice things to say about me and my yard in the conversation started by Walker Price on September 20.
I do want to clear up a few things. In addition to having Atrial Fibrillation, I have pulled a muscle in my right leg and have had difficulty getting the yard work done for the past 6 weeks.
I want to state that Walker Price has NEVER, ever, offered to mow my yard for free. NEVER. NEVER.
I cannot understand why he would claim that he has approached me multiple times about taking care of my yard for free. He has NEVER offered to do that.
He did offer to edge the front yard ONCE. That was months ago, maybe even last year. A storm was coming and he claimed the overhanging grass would cause a drainage problem that would cause the street to flood. As I told him, I have owned this house since 2001 and this street has never flooded. I also grew up in this neighborhood and Pine Valley Road has never flooded. Timberline has, and so has Appalachia, but not Pine Valley.
If Walker Price would like to edge my yard for free, I will gladly accept that offer. It is very difficult to take care of that sloped area with my lawn mower.
If Walker Price would like to mow my yard for free, I will gladly accept, with the caveat that I will tend to the walking spiral under my Japanese magnolia. My great-nieces love that path I make for them!
I have Atrial Fibrillation, and have had that since 2022. That means I can only do part of the yard at a time, so it may take a few days to get all of it done.
Please be patient.
Thank you.

I'll be curious to see what happens next.
Will my rebuttal be allowed to remain on that page?
Will the deer-hunting Walker Price edge my yard?
Will he learn the difference between a spiral walking path under a tree and crop circles out in open farmland?
We'll see.

waiting for the electrodes...

Yeah, you heard right: electrodes.

That little heart monitor is a bit too heavy when placed vertically on my chest.

I have enough weight in that area as it is, if you catch my drift.

I'd moved it to that location on Tuesday morning, after my shower.

That's when I removed the horizontally-aligned one that nurse Robin had put on me and that I'd been able to keep on for the mammogram on Monday.

When I removed it, the hypercolloid adhesive took with it a layer of epidermis - OUCH!!!

So, placing it back in that position was not an option.

Vertical it would go, right up against the sternum.

Yeah, that was a mistake.

I woke up several times Tuesday night in a panic, convinced that a hand was pushing down on my chest.

Honestly, it was like the A-fib was trying to come back on me!

Then, all day yesterday, the heart monitor's phone repeatedly alarmed to let me know I had "poor connection" between the monitor's pad and my skin.

That was no doubt because the area itched like crazy, as my sensitivity to the adhesive had finally kicked in.

Just after 11 PM, I called the BodyGuardian hotline for help.

The thought of trying to sleep another night with the monitor weighing heavily on my chest was weighing heavily on my mind.

Sherry was amazing, speaking in a calming voice throughout our 54-minute session and reassuring me that others also had these issues.

She had first suggested a "bridge" for the monitor, but she thought that might lead to the same problems I'd already experienced, as it used the same adhesive and the same placement areas.

The winning solution was to revert to electrodes.

Only two would be needed and they would attach to a connection point on my right chest, with a USB port for the monitor to plug into and dangle.

Meanwhile, she told me to go ahead and remove the vertical strip, remove the monitor and leave it on the charger, and turn off the monitor's phone.

Help would be forthcoming in two or three days.

Let my skin heal and let me relax, she told me.

So, that's what I did.

Yes, four days have been added to the length of my study, so the end date will be more like September 21, instead of the 17th.

That's fine.

At least I had a peaceful night's sleep last night.

resistance is futile...

That's what I texted to go along with the photo.

I knew that all on that list would get the "Star Trek" reference.

I rather feel like I am Borg, now that I have this gadget affixed to my chest.

As I told nurse Robin, I had no idea the heart monitor technology had evolved to this miniature.

It doesn't even use my phone for its communication, as it has its own.

That phone, of course, is the big, clunky, flat, smart phone that nearly everyone else has, but this is fitted with a nonskid case to keep it stable on any flat surface.

That's good, as I need to keep it within a ten-foot radius of wherever I am.

I intend to place it on the kitchen counter, the arm of the couch, the dining room table, or my nightstand.
Well, except for those occasions when I am out and about, like now.

After all, it is Tina Tuesday!

I'm at AMC, obviously, but there's no double-feature in my future.

I am finally getting to see "Nobody 2" and I'm looking forward to it!

Meanwhile, I thought I'd check out the Hawaiian Citrus flavor of the Dipping Dots.

As I told Breeanna and Alisia, it tastes like I'm eating a pina colada!!!

Very nice... but a bit messy, as the little globules roll like crazy, leaving little milky spots wherever they land and melt.

Oh, snap!

Time to go!

The movie starts in less than ten minutes!

I wonder what the Borg expression is for "catch you later"?

(smile!)
