laundry and list done!

That was the carrot to justify my rewards this afternoon.
If I got all the clothes washed and dried and put away, I could have a leisurely double feature, double header, at the cinema.
So, here are the clothes, in the quadruple machine which I like at Suds.
Sadly, it had a problem with its drain, so there were still suds in the last few items in the washer as I was unloading it.
Ack.
I had to rinse those by hand, then took them home to dry.
The rest all went into the single dryer, as usual.
I know, I know, it's been almost five months since I was at the laundry!
If not for being able to do small batches during my dog-sitting forays since February, I would have run out of undies a long time ago.
Fortunately, those were spaced out such that those small loads were exactly what I needed, when I needed it.
i thank You, God.
Then, as my reward I finished off my AMC A*List with two more "determined women" films, without realizing I had a theme until I saw the image.
See what I mean?
"Gail Daughtry And The Celebrity Sex Pass" was already discussed.
That leaves the other two, both seen this afternoon and prevening.
I still don't understand why "Moana" was made as "live-action", as it followed the 2016 animated film exactly.
My guess is they wanted to do so while The Rock was still pretty buff.
After all, Dwayne Johnson isn't gonna get any younger, right?
He's 54 years old now, and certainly looks it, but he still looked good enough to stand in for a demigod that had been on a desert isle for 1000 years.
(smile!)
I don't know why they changed out the girl, swapping out AuliÊ»i Cravalho and replacing her with Catherine Laga'aia, as they are only 5 years apart in age, but there may have been an availability issue.
I'm just thrilled that they kept Jemaine Clemente there to voice that "Shiny"-loving treasure crab!!!
I followed that with a conversation with both Trey and Tom!
The two managers were changing shifts, so it was nice to chat with both.
I found out that parking lot lights should be at least started by the end of this month - hooray!!
Then I ate pizza for slunch while I watched "Supergirl".
Bless her heart, she was having a rough time on her 23rd birthday, as it seemed to be just another day of getting drunk, like so many others.
Then, of all the bars in that alien world, the little girl walks into hers, seeking someone to kill Krem, the creep that slaughtered her sword-making family.
Kara Zor-El tried to shake the girl, but her dog, Krypto, seemed to like her so the trio seemed stuck together for a while.
That didn't last long before Krem came calling... and reminded her of something her father had told her: to be good.
It was the same message her cousin CLark kept throwing at her.
They weren't telling her to 'behave', they were trying to get her to acknowledge the goodness in her heart.
Pretty good movie!
Maybe I'll be able to see that one again in a couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, that trio will have to do.
Now, I'm going to watch "8 Days: To The Moon And Back" with my dinner.
I recorded the 2019 PBS documentary a few days ago and now, when naught is on except FIFA soccer, it's perfect for me!
It promises to have actual cockpit voice recordings, as well as recordings from the Houston Space Center and various news broadcasts, so I'm looking forward to it.
I imagine it'll be much of the same things I heard at the Kennedy Space Center, but, still, that's pretty awesome stuff!
What a moment in history that was for the entire world!
Shhh... it's starting...

vacay in georgetown: last day with ryan reynolds and stella

Here's 'Guy' (Ryan Reynolds), confronted by the 'cop with the porn mustache' [aka 'Keys' (Joe Keery)] and 'the apex predator pink rabbit' (aka 'Mouser' (Utkarsh Ambudkar). They both think he is a player of the game "Free City" and are there to boot him out. Why? Because he looks like an NPC (non-player character) and that isn't allowed.

Here's the sign that 'Blue Shirt Guy' has made an indelible mark on the world outside the gaming community. Alex Trebek (a fellow Canadian, by the way) has just read the clue and had it answered correctly, "Who is Blue Shirt Guy". Looking directly into the camera, Trebek then adds, "Yes, who is he, or she." What a nice nod to the anonymity that game players have!
Here's 'Guy' sharing one of his favorite places, and favorite treats, with 'Molotov Girl' (Jodie Comer), who has deigned to hang out with him now that he's racked up over 100 points. And just where are they? In a part of the game that has no missions in it, an oceanside park. And what are they doing? Eating bubblegum ice cream... which turns out to be her favorite flavor, too!!! Then they go to the swing set and eat ice cream and act like a normal couple on a first date. I just love that!
I'm so glad I go to see this multiple times again!
I did laundry while I watched, too. I didn't want Dawn and Chris to have to wash the bed linens and towels I used, so I took care of that. I also washed my clothes from the last few days.
(smile
I made sure Stella had some time outside, too. Just what was she looking at so intently? The geese with the seven goslings were up the bank, in Ken's yard, and he was feeding them. She realized that running up on them would be rude, so she stayed on our side of the water. Good girl!
Then, after the movie and laundry were done, and my car was packed, I took her out to the front porch. It was already 2 PM and I knew they would be home between 2:30 and 3. Sure enough, they were! She was so very happy to have them home again!!!
And me?
I'm very happy to be home again myself!
Being on vacation is nice... but coming home is, too!
Hallelujah!!!

my left foot

No, that isn't a reference to the 1989 movie with Daniel Day-Lewis.
I can't even believe that sprang to mind, as long ago as it was.
Perhaps my mental jukebox keeps track of movie stuff, too, to cue up for me when a stray phrase drops a quarter.
At any rate, I'm literally talking about my left lower appendage.
Kindly ignore for the moment that it's wearing a sandal in February.
Notice the toenails, please.
See how nicely trimmed and neat-looking they are?
Now, take a gander at my right foot, also sandal-clad.
Again, focus on the toenails.
These are all different lengths and not nearly as nice as the ones on the other foot.
That's because I can easily bend down and take care of my left foot.
Not so for the right side, as the inguinal hernia prevents that flexibility.
I did manage to contort enough to catch that middle toe, though, by standing with my heel down and my toes all straining upward to the clippers.
However, when I tried to get to the toe between that one and the little toe, the clippers only succeeded in nicking the toe and making it bleed.
That's why I was so grateful for a warm day so I could wear sandals.
Yesterday had not quite been as warm, nor will tomorrow be.
But the weather song had predicted the low 70's and it's actually been better than that for this Thursday.
Most excellent!
That allowed me to go wash clothes in shorts and sandals, again.
I had known it must be time... I was almost out of panties!
Remember: I have a drawer just for them!
Now, all of those will be clean, as well as all the long pants and my favorite sweaters, as well as a few socks.
Well, the ones for the left foot, at least.
I'm so looking forward to seeing the surgeon about that hernia!
The appointment is on Tuesday and I am so ready for it!

ice burns, too

I've been getting ready for Winter Storm Fern today.
What a silly name for hell.
However, hell it surely will be if it ventures down to Latitude 32 North.
I've been looking for a decent forecast of it, like NOAA has for hurricanes.
None were to found, at least not with the details I wanted.
At least I have the WSAV weather song to hum a few bars for me.
That's changed from just Monday, when today was to be 65/44.
That most positive change was welcomed with shorts, a t-shirt, and sandals.
However, the new forecast for Saturday is to be TEN DEGREES COLDER than was the case on Monday.
That's all being attributed to Fern, a plant associated with tropical temperatures, not wintry blasts of hell.
In any case, the timing is horrid: Dawn's annual soup party has been scheduled for January 24th for well over a month.
Me and my warm heart are still hopeful for a change in the weather.
That's why I started my day with $5 sushi, bought yesterday at Publix.
That's also to celebrate the forecast of a high of 71, which allowed me to open the windows and let all that heat in!
That's the warmest the house has been for days.
Then I got dressed in springtime attire and went to the laundry.
I wanted to take full advantage of this warm day to wash all my long pants, as well as my Cracker Barrel poncho-jacket and my bathrobe.
It was really strange to not have any socks in the wash.
After all, it has certainly been sock-wearing weather... but I've abstained, as I can only wear the left sock right now.
I sure will be glad when this inguinal hernia gets repaired.
Oh, and I found out from a qi-yong show that "inguinal" simply refers to the "crease between the leg and the groin".
What an odd way to learn a physiology term!
Now, I think I'll settle in to watch a reward from Comcast.
I had other options for entertainment tonight, but I simply chose to stay in.
It would have meant changing clothes, and I just didn't want to.
Mel Gibson and Danny Glover won't mind that at all...
and it's been a while since I saw "Lethal Weapon"...
so their company is just perfect.
We can all pretend we're still in our thirties.
(smile!
Thanks, Comcast.

it's a wonderful christmas carol home alone

Today has been a hard day for me.
The inguinal hernia made my right leg hurt all... day... long.
From the moment I woke up, the pain simply would not be appeased.
To make matters worse, the pain had me so distracted that I couldn't keep track of how often I was taking the acetaminophen.
I erred on the side of caution, and may well have missed a dose, in favor of the health of my liver.
Sigh.
At least I had my Christmas tree of love to keep me company.
Did I say "tree of love"?
You bet I did.
It's decorated with the cards of Christmas cheer that I've received this year, as well as the one Mama gave me in 1976.
That was the year she gave me the silver watch that Daddy had given to her when she was 18, and that was the year I was 18.
Yes, that is most definitely a tree of love.
I didn't turn on the lights until I returned from the laundry.
Yes, even in pain and hobbling along at a snail's pace, I still went to wash clothes.
Bed linens, too.
I had promised myself a clean bed to wake up in for Christmas Day, with a clean nightgown and clean clothes to wear.
I'd already washed dishes last night.
I'd taken a shower this morning.
The day was warm enough to wear shorts, which allowed me to wash all my long pants and sweaters.
The laundry had to be done!
So, I did it, remaking my bed when I returned home.
I didn't feel up to attending the Christmas Eve service at Asbury, nor did I choose to watch it on fb or youTube.
Instead, I again watched last Thursday's hour of "Ghosts", recorded so I could enjoy it without 'mercials getting in the way.
Titled "It's a Wonderful Christmas Carol", it was exactly what I needed to put me back into the Christmas spirit.
Then I checked the TV schedule for tonight.
"It's A Wonderful Life" was pitted against "Home Alone".
Should I record one and watch the other?
But which to watch?
I decided to watch them both, switching back and forth when a 'mercial break interrupted the story.
That worked out very well, actually.
"Home Alone" was done in two hours, ending just before 'Clarence' jumped off the bridge in "It's A Wonderful Life".
That let me give my whole attention to that movie at the part I liked best.
Perfect.
i thank You, God, and will hope for a less painful day tomorrow.

why 2005?

Oh, what a beautiful day!

I might have thought I was
in Oklahoma
had I not known better.

(That's an inside joke for those
who know musicals!)
After letting all that lovely warmth into the house, out I went to get the third movie for this week: the remake of "The Running Man".

I must say, Glen Powell is certainly a handsome 37-year-old man, with all the right bits in all the right places, to paraphrase Meghan Trainor.
However, he's already done that shtick in his movies.
The man best be careful lest he be typecast as eye candy and not a person of substance.
Without Edgar Wright at the helm of this latest version of the story, Powell's antics might well have derailed the scifi movie into comedy.
In fact, none of this week's A*List dances have been quite in step.
"Die My Love", though well-acted, was a bit jumpy in its presentation, which could have been a cheap shot at reinforcing Grace's post-partum descent into madness.
"Now You See Me: Now You Don't"  was certainly full of the magic I love, but it seemed a bit rushed, like they were determined to cram too much movie into too short a running time.
One thing all three movies shared: a fabulous supporting cast, even though many of those actors with street cred - Nick Nolte, Morgan Freeman, and William H. Macy, in these three films - had hardly any screen time.
Enough already!!!
Time for Thanksgiving this evening!
Yes, this was the last Wednesday Night Supper of the fall and that meant: turkey!!!
Plus there were mashed potatoes, green beans, an cranberry sauce!!!
Several folks at Asbury Memorial supplied the desserts, like Danny Lewis and his pumpkin pound cake - so good!
I sat with Pam and Walt again, as well as Lynn Hoerlin and her son and granddaughter, both visiting from Ohio.
I really enjoyed talking about Las Vegas with Meko - she was a delight!
I sure am going to miss these meals with other Asburians!

And when I checked the time,
I found out I could still
do laundry after all.

The last wash at Suds Laundry
has to be started by 7 PM,
and it was 6:47
when I pushed the button.
How very fortunate I was!

This has been a very messy two weeks for me, so messy that my long pants and my fuchsia sweater were both rendered unwearable.

As good fortune would have it, the weather has been in the upper 70's, allowing me to wear shorts today.

All the more reason to do an emergency wash -
and go ahead and do the bed linens, too.

As I was waiting for the flannel sheets to come out of the dryer, I spotted a penny on the table by my basket.

It was not there while I'd been folding clothes.

Right place, right time.

i thank You, God.

Now, time to watch "Wicked" on ABC!

in shorts for laundry day!

"You're in shorts?! But it's November!"

True, my dear, but would you just look at that temperature? It's 76 and sunny and oh-so-blessedly warm!!! I've had the house wide open for two days, welcoming all that lovely warmth into the house to counteract the chill from the night.

"Good move! That will keep the electric bill below fifty bucks, which is a blessing of its own. It'll be interesting to see what will happen to electric rates since the two Republicans on that council lost their seats yesterday to Democrats."

Oh, please, I voted early, so that's been a done deal for me. Glad to know the two I voted for won. But right now, I'm more concerned with reveling in shorts!

"Let me guess: the long pants are all in the wash?"

Nope! They're in the dryer in this photo! That was taken about an hour ago. I've been home from the laundry for about thirty minutes now. And I had the oddest experience there today! Britney was there, as were two women she knew, and we all chatted and ended up having long hugs and a prayer session. Right place, right time, I tell you. If I had been ten minutes later in arriving, I would have missed that moment of community with strangers. I feel well and truly blessed!

"Good for you, dear. Timing truly is everything."

neighing away!!!

Because of the pain in my right leg, I've been sleeping oddly.
See, I prefer to sleep on my right side, and that has become an issue with my sore hamstring and hip.
What did I do to cause that?
Beats me.
Acetaminophen helps - which is good, as that's the only pain reliever I'm allowed while on Eliquis - but it gets 'all used up' in less than seven hours.
That means I'm up at crazy times to take another so I can finish sleeping.
Thankfully, this time I was able to catch "Bill and Teddy's Adventure"!

Hahahaha!
That's my name for this scene!
Nice pun on one of my favorite history movies
Teddy Roosevelt had challenged Bill to a Hobby-Horsin' Hootenanny and it was ON!
That's Bill on the left, with his steed, 'Broomstick'.
Teddy, astride 'Little Texas', had to split the win of the first two jumping contests, but they managed to beat out the competition in the third round.
Very funny!!!
By the time that was done, and I'd watched two cartoons that featured hobby horses, the pill had kicked in.
i thank You, God,
for this bit of merriment!
Now, I'm awake again and well-rested, and ready to head off to Suds for laundry.
I'm even tackling the double load of bed linen this time.
Why a double instead of a single?
Well, that's 'cause I've been slack.
I've had a fitted sheet and a flat sheet left over from a few months back when I didn't want to be bothered with folding sheets.
Silly me!
Hooray for quadruple loader machines and 25% off Wednesdays!

tcb and belated bday67

After all, it is Wednesday.
I even washed the sheets that were on the bed, so I'll have fresh ones tonight!
Did I separate the sheets from the clothes?
Nope!
It all went into the one quadruple-load machine to spin around together for $5.34 - an unusual amount, but SUDS gives 25% on hump day.
Hooray!

That was all done by noon30, the time of so many of the SMF concerts I love to usher!
That was good, as the day had started in the low 80's on its way to the low 90's.
Oh, and let's not forget the return of the +10 heat index.
This is my third day of a new SVF13 position: VoD.
As the Volunteer on Duty, I have been tasked with serving in stand-by mode, for a five-hour shift, in case Lani Winslet needs an errand performed.
I volunteered for four such shifts.
The first was on Monday prevening, from 3 PM until 8 PM.
I checked in with her by text, but she replied she hadn't any tasks for me.

When I hadn't heard more by 6:15 PM, I went on to Music Bingo!
Such a lovely time with Sandy, Elissa, Marcia, and Amanda, as well as three of Amanda's coworkers at the Habersham YMCA!
I didn't win anything, but I had lots of fun trading quips with Elissa!
Plus, I found out the kid-sized chicken fingers, grilled, with crispy house kettle chips was perfect for my appetite and my budget - most def a winner!
I had my phone on the whole time and Lani didn't need me.
Good!
Tuesday, knowing I had an evening concert that I didn't want to miss, my VoD shift was scheduled from 11:30 AM until 3 PM.
Again, I checked in with Lani, and she told me she would check to see if anyone needed me to get anything done for them.
About 1:30 PM, she texted to turn me loose... and I went off to see "Freakier Friday" at AMC and eat popcorn!
That just may be the only A*List movie I see this week.
It was a good one, too, so I am fine with that being the case!
Today was another evening shift for VoD, so I checked in about 1 PM to remind Lani that I was there should a task or two need doing.
She thanked me... and I heard no more.

Meanwhile, I took care of things around the house, mostly paperwork.
I considered seeing a movie about 6 PM, but opted to go to Oglethorpe Mall instead.
I had a late birthday gift from Bath & Body Works that expires tomorrow, so... I used it to get a quart of hand soap refill!
I also got a bottle of gel soap in that same flavor - Kitchen Lemon - and my total bill was $3.51.
Hooray!!!
That's because I had a 5-buck gift card from AARP points!
I also had the bday67 Panera gift card from my dear blue-sky Penny in my back pocket - hooray!
So off I went in search of dinner and found it in the form of the new Italian Steak & Mozz sandwich.
I had every intention of just eating half of it, but it was soooo gooood!!!
Thank you, thank you, my dear cousin!
What a wonderful, worthwhile, working Wednesday I've had!
i thank You, God!

bathrobe clean again! hooray!

I have certainly missed being able to slip into my bathrobe on chilly mornings.

I've had to resort to getting fully dressed before coming out of my warm bedroom.

That has been most unsatisfactory.

Shower time is another occasion when I've missed my comfy bathrobe.

Mercifully, today was unseasonably warm, allowing me to take a shower.

That was wonderful!!!

I hadn't realized I hadn't had a shower since the two I took early Sunday morning when my body was in such distress.

In fact, that first shower back then, around 4 AM, had me clad in my bathrobe when the second bout of body fluids spewed forth, marring that clothing and rendering it unusable.

Yes, that was one of those times that I wished I had a washing machine at home.

Instead, I awaited this day, to save what little I could and to allow my strength to rebuild.

I still had to use a buggy to get my basket of laundry from my car to the building, then again to return all to the car.

Trust me, getting the basket from my house to the car and then back again had me sitting for a while to catch my strength up.

Here's the difference between these instances and those I had from A-fib: I didn't lose my breath even once today.

I was just incredibly weak.

Still, that was a successful venture: my lovely, lavender, bathrobe is restored to pristine status.

i thank You, God.

laundry day chat with stepmom!

me:

me: Warm enough for capri pants, too!

Bonnie: "?"

me: Washing clothes! All my long pants are in the machine.

Bonnie: "We have 74 degrees. Scary when it gets warm fast... tornado weather. How are you feeling now?"

me: Good! I do so much better when the weather is warm!

Bonnie: "Me, too."

me: Next Tuesday, Christina is having surgery on her right knee. I will be with her for a few days to help with the girls and 2 dogs.

me: Trying to get things done before that.

me: I wash clothes about once a month. It helps to have a drawer full of panties and another full of socks!

me: Plus, i am usually pretty clean, so i can wear tops more than once. :-)

Bonnie: "Will pray for successful surgery. Have fun with the girls."

me: I sure hope so. The mornings are my biggest concern, getting them off to school.

me: You know me! I sleep until about 9:30. That will not work next week.

Bonnie: "I wear my outfit two or three days."

me: Right? We don't get dirty or sweaty like guys.

I really want to go see her this year. I miss our talks and our hugs.

Paul and Cathy go to Wash Plus!

Ceviche for breakfast!!!
You bet! Since it was laundry day (today's travelers by plane must pack light), we ate brunch at Jalapenos, right across the street from my favorite laundrette. What a great way to start the day!

While Cathy and I enjoyed our brunch at a leisurely pace, Paul bopped across the road to Wash Plus to start the wash cycle. By the time it was done and he bopped back to put the load into the dryer, we were sated!
It was so nice to introduce them to Nami, too! She and I have known each other for almost 20 years!
You see, I've been coming to her place for tending to my clothes ever since 1996.

Clothes were washed, dried, and folded. On to other events!
First on the list was a trip to the Owens-Thomas House. It's part of the Telfair Museum group and had been included with our admission to the other two yesterday. Also, I couldn't recall having been there, so it would be new to me, too.
The weather was warm, so off we went, clothes still in the trunk!
What good timing we had, too. We arrived about thirty minutes before a tour of the grounds was to begin. Yeah!

Afterward, Paul and Cathy took a few moments to enjoy the lovely garden and fountain. Such peace and serenity! Such a lovely way to pass time before the movie...
What movie? The latest Bollywood film over at the Royal Cinema! I had been chatting up the film ever since their arrival, so of course they humored me and agreed to go!
And so we did, dining first at the coolest pizza joint in this area, the Mellow Mushroom in Pooler. You know, where it's cooler.
Local joke!
(smile)
So, we had slunch, with the five Ultraman statues, under the Spiderman on the ceiling, and admiring the artwork on the walls. I tend to avoid pizza places since I became lactose intolerant six years ago, but this place is just that cool that I work around that whole cheese issue.
Then it was time for "PK"!!! Woohoo!!! What a grand blend of Bollywood, science fiction, romance, and comedy!!!
Definitely stirred up a hunger for Indian food, too.
So, that was our next destination! Back to Savannah and Pakwan! We have several Indian restaurants in town, but I like this one best. Tonight, I didn't have my glasses, so reading the menu was out. No worries. I had the special, lamb chops. I am so glad I did! Absolutely fabulous!!!

Then, back to home, fetching the clean clothes into the house.
We were right on time for a bit of relaxing (and Paul's foot massage) before the two Sunday-evening episodes of "The Big Bang Theory".
Perfect timing!
How very nice -
we'd had perfect timing all day!

you gotta keep 'em separated

I took this photograph the last time I washed clothes.
That was the day I left for the AXE Conclave in Virginia.
Sheesh... that was on July 25th!
No wonder I'm running out of underwear!
Yes, only now is it starting to get dicey for me in that department.
Go ahead, I'll wait while you do a quick calculation.
26 days and counting...
Either Thursday or Friday, I really must venture out in the heat to Wash Plus and rejuvenate my panties!
The other clothes could use a good washing, too.
Especially the bras.
Oh, my!

"The Laundry Prayer

God grant me the serenity to accept the stains I cannot get out,

the courage to bleach the ones I can,

And the wisdom to remove that one red sock from the load of whites.
"

Makes you almost want to sing it, doesn't it!
Instead, I recommend you sing along with Freeze Ray, one of my favorite laundry-day tunes.
You might enjoy this Weird Al Yankovic mockery, too. He is such a hoot!
